Mechanical Engineering

Mechanical Engineering Department is one of the oldest departments of the institute. It is also one of the biggest departments of the institute. Department was started in the year 2006. Department offers 3 years course of Diploma in Mechanical Engineering (DME) with total intake of 360 seats affiliated to Maharashtra state board of technical education, Mumbai. Mechanical department has a team of highly qualified and motivated faculties and well equipped laboratories. Department is committed to generate employable mechanical engineering diploma engineers with knowledge, skills and ethics and provide professional and soft skills necessary to lead a successful career with the confidence necessary to contribute for nation. The department of Mechanical Engineering includes many exciting subjects like Automobile Engineering, Production Engineering, Computer Aided Design and Manufacturing, Power Engineering, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning, Automation and Robotics which have been among the fastest growing and most challenging technologies that enable the development of the modern knowledgeable society.

  • PEO 1: Provide socially responsible, environment friendly solutions to Mechanical engineering related broad-based problems adapting professional ethics.
  • PEO 2: Adapt state-of-the-art Mechanical engineering broad-based technologies to work in multi-disciplinary work environments.
  • PEO 3: Solve broad-based problems individually and as a team member communicating effectively in the world of work.

  • PSO1. Modern Software Usage: Use latest mechanical related software for simple design, drafting, manufacturing, maintenance and documentation of mechanical component and process.
  • PSO2. Maintenance and selection of machine, equipment, instruments: Maintain and select appropriate machine, equipment and instrument in field of mechanical
  • PSO3. Manage Mechanical Process: Manage the mechanical process by selection and scheduling right type of machinery, equipment, substrates, quality control techniques, operational parameter and software for a particular mechanical process or job for economy of operations.

  • PO1. Basic knowledge: An ability to apply knowledge of basic mathematics, science and engineering to solve the engineering problems.
  • PO2. Discipline knowledge: An ability to apply discipline - specific knowledge to solve core and/or applied engineering problems.
  • PO3. Experiments and practice: An ability to plan and perform experiments and practices and to use the results to solve engineering problems.
  • PO4. Engineering Tools: Apply appropriate technologies and tools with an understanding of the limitations.
  • PO5. The engineer and society: Demonstrate knowledge to assess societal, health, safety, legal and cultural issues and the consequent responsibilities relevant to engineering practice.

  • Project Management: Use engineering management principles individually, as a team member or a leader to manage projects and effectively communicate about well-defined engineering activities.

Theory of Machine Laboratory

THEORY OF MACHINE laboratory is equipped with the various equipments which gives the practical verification of basic theoretical principles of kinematics and dynamics of machines such as…<br/> Balancing of rigid rotor on Hard Bearing Understanding of various parameters affecting vibrations.<br/> Plotting of characteristics curves for Watt, Porter, Proell and Hartnell governors. Dynamics of cam-follower arrangement.<br/> Experimental justification of gyroscopic behavior on a spinning rotor.<br/> Fundamentals of double pendulum, beats phenomena, gear, gear trains, cam and follower mechanisms, slider crank mechanism and four bar chain.

It is the one of important laboratory for diploma & degree students for their course curriculum. The aim to establish this laboratory for practical training in the field of CAD (Computer Aided Designing) & CAM (Computer Aided Manufacturing).<br/> Softwares in the laboratory are, Auto CAD, Solid Works, MS office etc.

Engineering Metrology Laboratory

Metrology has a great importance in quality assurance. The aim to establish this laboratory is to provide practical training in the field of various types of standards & measurement. The laboratory has conventional, optical (and laser based) equipments used in metrology. This laboratory is being used for practical to diploma students. Equipment for Metrology & Quality Laboratory are Vernier Callipers, Screw Gauges, Depth Gauges, Micrometers, Surface Roughness Tester, Profile Projector etc

Fundamental of Mechatronics Laboratory

PLC communicate with PC and trainer then controls the cylinder using Versapro software.  FRL unit receives air from compressor then filter, regulates and lubricates the air.  3/2, 5/2 direction control valves provided to control the single and double acting cylinder.  3 proximity sensors are provided to give digital inputs to PLC.  Magnetic read switch provided to indicate the position of the cylinder.<br/>  # 8051/89C51 Microcontroller at 12MHz or equivalent.  Stepper motor is interfaced with 8051 microcontroller using ULN driver.  PC keyboard, reset and interrupt keys are provided.<br/> This kit constitute of 8085A CPU with 16k ROM and 8k RAM.  It is connected with RS232 C serial port with 9 pin D type counter.<br/> This kit can be interfaced with computer or microcontroller kit to program for traffic light control.<br/> It constitute of digital PID controller, permanent magnet DC motor and DC motor speed controller trainer.  It uses RS 232 for interfacing with computer and 9 pin for process station.  it has 64k flash memory, 256 data memory.<br/> Real time performance can be checked with the Panterm software.  This device consists of Servo meter, Servo Drive, Encoder and Input/output terminals which are interfaced with PLC.
