Civil Engineering

Department of Civil engineering at Bhivrabai Sawant Polytechnic is highly committed to craft engineers by providing training from the root level to the fruit. Department has an intake of 180 students per year. In addition to the prescribed syllabus we provide them an atmosphere where every student gets an opportunity to maximize their latent talents. Department is supported by latest infrastructure facilities which is in tune with the global standards. Department is well equipped with state of the art facilities which includes most modern laboratories and equipment.

  • PEO 1: To make students understand the socio-economic problems of the society, and inspire them to execute Civil Engineering projects accordingly.

  • 1. Construction Planning and Designing, Perform optimal civil engineering construction planning and designing, activities of desired quality at optimal cost
  • 2.Construction Execution & Maintenances:- Execute civil engineering construction & maintenance using relevent material and equipment

  • Basic knowledge: An ability to apply knowledge of basic mathematics, science and engineering to solve the engineering problems.
  • Discipline knowledge: An ability to apply discipline - specific knowledge to solve core and/or applied engineering problems.
  • Experiments and practice: An ability to plan and perform experiments and practices and to use the results to solve engineering problems.
  • Engineering Tools: Apply appropriate technologies and tools with an understanding of the limitations.
  • The engineer and society: Demonstrate knowledge to assess societal, health, safety, legal and cultural issues and the consequent responsibilities relevant to engineering practice.

Concrete Technology Laboratory

Concrete is one of the important construction materials. Study of its ingredients and their properties is essential for preparing desired mix so as to develop required strength necessary for various types of Structures. The durability of the structures depends upon the ingredients of concrete selected, mixed, placed, compacted and cured. Concrete is used not only for construction of building, but also for concrete roads, gravity dams, retaining walls, water tanks, airport runway pavements, etc.<br/> After performing the experiments the students will be able to assure the various properties of Cement such as fineness, consistency, setting time, soundness, and compressive strength, properties of aggregates such as impact value, crushing value, flakiness index, elongation index, silt content, properties of concrete such as workability, non-destructive testing.

Computer Aided Drawing Laboratory

A well-equipped computer lab with advanced facilities is established for the benefit of the civil engineering students. High end terminals supported by latest  hardware and software, latest visual aids, plotting devices, etc. are among them. Advanced civil engineering software is procured for making the students globally competitive and industry ready. At CAD lab, students get professional training on 2D & 3D drafting of civil engineering drawings using the latest version of Auto cad software. Student will learn computer aided design layout and 3D solid modeling definition. Students will also gain the knowledge of design and drafting needed for civil engineering discipline.

Engineering Mechanics Laboratory

The objective of this lab is to understand the basic principles in the areas of strength & Mechanics of Materials and Structural Analysis to the students through a series of experiments. In this lab the experiments are performed to measure the mechanical properties of the materials such as Tensile & compressive strengths, Young’s Modulus, rigidity Modulus, Impact Strength, Hardness, etc.<br/> To study the mechanical properties of material used in engineering field. To study the mechanical behavior of the material against sudden shock and impact loads in dynamic nature. To study the deflections of beams under concentrated loads .To understand the hardness properties of material against indentation.

Environmental Engineering Laboratory

The Environmental Engineering Laboratory in the Department of Civil Engineering provides good testing, teaching and research facilities. These laboratories are recently constructed and contain modern analytical instruments and facilities to carry out simple to sophisticated experiments i.e. Physic-chemical and Biological parameters testing for Water and Wastewater, Air pollutants testing in stack and environment etc. The Laboratory has equipment to analyze pollution parameters in water and waste water, soil and air.
